Outstanding October!

Happy November!

Thanks for checking out our blog. Here, we hope to update you about recent events (packing parties & distribution drives), any newly forged community relationships, and exciting future plans for our amazing nonprofit!

We have had another rewarding month working to end period poverty in our San Diego community! This month brought new opportunities, challenges, and successes. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we are feeling particularly grateful to our extended Fulfilling Destiny Family—without your support, our work would not be possible.

Let the updating begin—

House of Plants: We are happy to announce that we had another tremendously
successful packing party at The House of Plants in Chula Vista. Together with some
amazing volunteers, we packed a combined total of 235 dignity bags, 129 with
tampons and 106 with pads. Thanks so much to everyone that came out and helped—
you are rockstars! Together, one step at a time, we can alleviate period poverty in our
community. Thanks again!

Distribution Drive: This month we had a successful distribution drive! On the 26th at
the Neil Good Day Center, we distributed dignity bags to women and girls experiencing
homelessness. If you are interested in participating in our next drive, come join us! We
are always grateful for more passionate, dedicated, committed volunteers!

Partnerships: We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with The Stand at San Diego Mesa
College. The Stand provides Mesa students experiencing hardship with a variety of
helpful items including professional clothing, food, and toiletries. Fulfilling Destiny will
be providing The Stand with feminine hygiene products for students!
Additionally, we are happy to announce our official partnership with the Women’s
Resource Center at San Diego State. We are looking forward to a long and fulfilling
partnership!

Staff Spotlight:
This spotlight is taken directly from our newsletter, but we wanted to share it here too!
As our FD family grows, we thought it would be the perfect time for you to get to know
our staff a little better! For the next couple of months, we will be introducing a different
staff member.

This month,

Introducing Jayzle-May! -May is our Sponsorship & Volunteer Coordinator.

Why FD: “I am passionate about working for Fulfilling Destiny because I want to make
a difference in the world! I believe that it is a fundamental human right for people to
have access to menstrual products. I want people who menstruate to have access to
clean and healthy period products and I want to decrease the worries that people who
are experiencing homelessness.”
Fun fact
: “I am sensitive to prolonged sun exposure :)”

Jayzle-May, thank you for everything you do for us!

A couple of days to be aware of:
November 11th: Veterans Day
November 26th: National cake day—this one is a little silly, but why miss an
opportunity to eat cake!
November 28th: Thanksgiving Day

Vision: Fulfilling Destiny addresses the need for feminine products among homeless
women within the San Diego community. Our goal is to decrease monthly worries and
provide necessary products. With these actions, we hope to empower women in need,
and help increase self-esteem, one woman at a time.

Some takeaways: Let’s create a world where all women and girls regardless of who
they are, what they have, or where they come from are able to live with dignity. We are
committed to creating a more just and equitable community—where women and girls
not just survive but thrive, feeling empowered, supported, and uninhibited.

Periods are a part of life, let’s never make women and girls feel humiliated. We are
working to change the narrative from one of humiliation and shame to one of dignity.
